Noel Brown was strangled and dismembered at his London flat

Police have confirmed that the beheaded and dismembered dead body, that was discovered in a London flat, was that of a convicted pedophile.

Noel Brown, 69 was found dead at his home in Deptford, at about 2.45am on Monday.

According to investigators, Brown was butchered and killed by vigilantes who had broken into his home.

Detectives believe Noel Brown died from his injuries after his genitals and limbs were cut off before he was decapitated.

Detective Superintendent Paul Monk said Mr. Brown served four years in prison for a conviction in 1999 for a sex offense which was "screaming out" as a motive.

"The offense was a sex offense, he was convicted and served time and was released in 2004," Detective Monk said.

Mob justice is a growing trend where child abusers are concerned and "nothing" else had happened in Mr. Brown’s life in the 18 years since the conviction to suggest any other possibly the reason for the murder, according to Detective Monk, although police are still trying to rule out any other possible motive.

According to Metro, on the day he was last seen alive, Brown had visited his local Paddy Power betting shop – but detectives said they had found no evidence he was killed because of a gambling win.

A neighbor saw him at his home at around 8 pm on Thursday, November 30.

After forensic searches of the area and gathering hours of CCTV, police have appealed for the public’s help and urged two men who visited Mr. Brown’s flat in the days before he was found dead to come forward.

Detective Superintendent Paul Monk said:

"At this early stage, we are keeping an open mind regarding the motive.

"However, it was clear to the responding officers that there were no signs of forced entry to the property.

"One of our key lines of inquiry is to establish if the suspect or suspects were known to Noel.

"I am keen to hear from anyone who saw Noel in the days leading up to his death or saw anyone or anything unusual in or around New Butt Lane, SE8 during that time."
