But what both Krauss and Dawkins ask of religious people, is to be willing to openly look at atheism and its scientific facts.

A battle of two tribes that began in the 20th century would see the biggest split in western civilisation since the Pilgrims headed over to America. The film, The Unbelievers, follows two world-renowned atheists, Richard Dawkins and Lawrence Krauss.

Surprisingly the two men of science are very open-minded in their approach to their foes. Dawkins and Krauss take a surprising stance in the way they are open to the belief system, but ask followers to be open-minded in their approach toward atheists. This presents a problem for religious advocates.

Atheism is scientifically founded, there are reasons for wholly not believing in religion, and there is no doubt that this has seen an up rise in Atheism in the 20th century onwards. But all religions are not actually founded. It’s almost blindly followed, it would appear that a book is enough to convince a large number of people that there is a certain way to live life.

But what both Krauss and Dawkins asks of religious people, is to be willing to openly look at atheism and its scientific facts and adjust their Religion to suit the founded facts. Krauss and Dawkins also make the point that where Atheists are willing to listen to religious people, whereas Atheists are shut down whether they are moderately hostile or not.

The film highlights a fundamental problem within the argument of religion vs Science. Though there are staunch men of science – and indeed huge atheists – they only present there thoughts whilst noting what they are arguing against. The ignorance of the religious advocates is mirrored all too often in any current disagreement in the 21st century.

With regards to politics at the moment, the petition to have Donald Trump banned from the UK is as ridiculous as the uneducated bigoted statements he spouts himself. Much like ISIS this idea that you can simply extinguish an idea is irrelevant. No matter what is done, to quash it wouldn’t make it non-existent but it would make the people who are trying to extinguish it the ignorant ones.

Too often in a place of democracy, there are people who aren’t actually democratic. Democracy implies a freethinking society, and if you are starving someone of that privilege then you are just as ridiculous as what they are saying. Ignorance in the 21st century is all too rife. This film does a great job of underlining that issues.

The Unbelievers gives a fascinating insight in to how Atheists are treated in the hostile environment of religious dialect. Krauss and Dawkins are too very well respected men in the science and atheist community, so to have them working together and trying to educate people of similar beliefs but people who are also against them is of great importance. For anyone with a fascination in the great ideological war of the 21st century, this is an important watch.
